Black History Month

How do you feel about this month Black History & Valentine's Day? I really do not know what to say. I look at this month and it’s the month of LOVE combined with Black History. I asked myself; its got to be a reason for the whole month to be Black History and the month of LOVE. Well, if you are struggling with this question why does Black History have to be in the shortest month; then you have to ask why Valentine Day is in the shortest month too. I do not know why, but I do know that it has to do with the love of us as mankind. You think!!! I feel in my perspective God has two important commandments: First: You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment." A second is equally important. "Love your neighbor as yourself.” I feel we as African American (not all) struggle with this verse. I am not speaking for other races, because I cannot put myself in their shoes no more then they can put themselves in mines. ( I'm speaking from my perspective) Loving your neighbor as yourself, (and not just the person next door) but with everyone you meet and anyone who has hurt you. It’s hard, I know! I still struggle with it still, but I know a God that I serve who blesses me each morning to wake up and get it right. So, all I can said is I'm going to not only make February the month of Black History & Love but also each day I wake up a day of forgiving & loving others. That’s the problems I have when it comes to “loving thy neighbor as yourself” Have you heard the song by Kevin Levar “ A Heart That Forgives” it's what life boils down too…..Forgiving! What happen to our ancestors is done and its purpose is served thank God for the Grace he placed over them to endure those struggles. We have to move on & let go of the past. I know, I've mentioned this song before “A Heart That Forgives” but it’s a powerful, powerful song. I forgive everyone who has hurt me, I'm letting go of the past; that’s what Pastor TD Jakes spoke on New Years Night for major breakthroughs this year for 2010. I working towards this for this year; how about you? Please listen to this song with an open heart and soul & ENJOY!
